June 13, 2007, Uhersky Brod: After postponing the trip several times, I finally got to Uhersky Brod. In Komarno we met Mr Attila MURLASITS. In principle, I was responsible for reading the map, however, thanks to his alertness, we lost our way only once or twice. Uhersky Brod is situated not far from the Slovak border, in an undulating landscape of Czech. This is a small town, of human scale, as is the AZUB „empire”. The workshop and the shop were transformed from an old mill, and one can enter the shop after crossing a bridge spanning a small pond. There are a great deal of recumbent bicycles waiting for their masters here, both two- and three-wheeled ones. The latter belong to the Greenspeed models. The creator of the AZUB is a nice, friendly young man, who started to develop these good machines six or seven years ago. It was the  425th bicycle we purchased from him. The bikes can be test run. I easily cycled on the hillside by a three-wheeled Greenspeed. There unfolds a beautiful and attractive view of the town. The towers of  three churches, the houses lining the hillside, the red roofing tiles of the buildings as well as  the hills with the fresh green cover and the clear blue sky are picturesque. It is a pity we could spend only a few hours there.

June 5, 2007. Test run of AZUB 5. At last, I managed to put into operation the AZUB 5. I set out to go to work by it. It was the joltiness of the road I was most careful about. I was well aware of what Antibringa K 9 model is capable of in some places. It is not accidental that the springing was invented, I could remain in the saddle even at the largest unevenness. This, to some extent, increased the speed and enhanced my feeling secure. The bike got over the hindrances noiseless and easily. On my way home, I got into a heavy shower, in fact, it was a downpour. Fortunately, I went through the stormiest part of the downpour under the bridge in Papkeszi. When it was only drizzling, I continued my way and I could not perceive in time on the new, watery and slippery road that there was an end of one asphalt layer. However, the approximately 10-cm level difference was nothing for the bike, it landed tenderly, without braking. I still have to get accustomed to the chain switch, especially when I stop in a higher gear and I should start in a low one (the hub is still much better at such occasions!). The bike, having an aluminium skeleton, weighs some kilogramms less. Thereby it is easier to ride and carry it, because, wanting to avoid the roads made use of by the wilds (namely, some car drivers), at two places I climb up steep slopes with the bike on my back. The manufacturer made me work when fixing the mirror and the mudguards. I wonder how the mudguards are industrially fixed. At last, I managed to solve this and now everything is okay. I took a liking to this recumbent, the construction is aesthetical, one can get quickly accustomed to the moveable upper handle-bar. It is true, however, that you cannot push the bike upside a hill. The seat is comfortable, as it can be expected from a recumbent.

May 31, 2007. AZUB 5. Over and over again, you have to realize that you need not invent the hot water as it had been invented by somebody else, and you need not push the river either because it flows skilfully by itself. Nevertheless, when inventing the hot water one is becoming more and more clever and skilful, it is a really good adventure even if it comes to some difficulties, or perhaps it costs much more. I made quite a lot of tests concerning what an ideal two-wheeled recumbent bike is like, which is, of course, only ideal for me, and for somebody else some other type would be ideal. Maybe I have the most beautiful bike of my own construction, it was made by the best master. However, there is one thing I have been always dissatisfied with, and this is the springing. Though I have made quite a lot of improvements on it with the front telescope, the rear one was missing. If I have a chance I do not ride among the wilds, and thus, I am forced to go on bumpy roads. For this purpose, a rigid skeleton is not ideal. Before starting such an improvement, I thought of having a look around the ready factory models. I took a fancy to AZUB, I daresay at first sight. I tested it,  liked it, so I bought it. I can say the price only those being older than  a hundred years. I have not put it into operation yet, but I covered some circles by it. The springing is fantastic, and I am still surprised at its weighing only 22 kgs. That is why I had to give up the hub, now I am getting accustomed to the chain switch. It remains to be seen whether I will be successful in it.

Now I have two pieces of two-wheeled recumbent bikes: a home-made model of high quality (Antibringa K 9 model), which has proved to be in good running order during the 1000 kms already covered, and a factory-made one (AZUB 5 model), which I shall be able to give an account of later on. Here are the photos of both bicyles:
